Lost In You

A thoughtful exploration through a labyrinthine orchard of cherry, orange, and other botanicals.

  • 2 oz Bourbon (high rye preferred, 90-95 proof)

  • .5 oz Heering cherry liqueur

  • .5 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao

  • .5 oz Cocchi Americano

Combine ingredients and stir with ice to preferred dilution before serving “up” into a chilled glass. Express an orange peel over the top, and garnish with the expressed peel.

Alternatively, serve in a rocks glass with a single, large cube of ice and garnish with a Luxardo cherry for a smoother flavor that mellows throughout the journey.

Notes

Heering opens this irresistible siren song with a tasteful aria. Dry curacao adds harmonies of orange citrus. Cocchi adds a bittersweet complexity to form a supportive ensemble.

Your preferred mixing bourbon will do great here. But the older and oakier, the better. A 15 year Knob Creek was a mistake, because I no longer want anything else.

Origin

This drink began as an attempt to find a scotch cocktail that I liked during the 2024 Christmas season. In the process, the siren song of bourbon lured me away to crash upon the rocks of creating an original bourbon cocktail that I don't mind losing myself in from time to time.
